Being an Iowa FBLA Officer is a privilege afforded for only those members deserving of the experience. National Leadership Conference June 29 -July 2, 2026 San Antonio, Texas The National Leadership Conference (NLC) is held during the summer months in a selected city in the United States. Iowa's top place competitive event winners with a counterpart national event are eligible to compete at the NLC. All Iowa members and advisers are eligible to attend, based on local and state guidelines. In addition to competitive events, the NLC consists of tours, business meetings, special interest sessions, seminars, workshops, awards programs, election and installation of national officers, and other planned educational/leadership development activities. State Leadership Conference The Iowa FBLA State Leadership Conference (SLC) is a three-day conference held each spring. The conference consists of general sessions, competitive events, seminars, workshops, the election of officers, awards and recognition, special programs, and other leadership and educational learning activities. 2026 State Leadership Conference Date: March 29-31, 2026 Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa Register Here Deadlines Conference Hotel Registration Costs Hotel Costs Conference rates are based on the number of nights the attendee stays at an official Iowa FBLA hotel. Registration cost is separate from the hotel cost. Standard Rate (Members, Advisers, & Adults) $105 - For reservations at least two nights $125 - For reservations at least one night $140 - If not staying in official Iowa FBLA hotel block $25 - Awards of Excellence Session Only (Tuesday, March 31st) Chapters should budget and plan for a nightly hotel rate of $174. This is the highest rate of all approved hotel properties. The chapter's hotel preference may not be available when selecting the hotel choice; property rates shouldn't be used for budgeting and planning purposes. The chapter will be invoiced based on the pricing of the hotel assigned after the close of registration. The hotel rate is separate from the registration cost. FBLA Middle School FBLA helps middle school students explore careers in business through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs. About FBLA Middle School Opportunity FBLA Middle School provides an opportunity for members to explore a range of career skills as well as project-based learning experiences tied to a Business Education Program. In FBLA Middle School, members will identify problems and solutions to begin developing business skills. Skills FBLA is a 501(c)3 organization for students interested in business, business related career, and leadership development. With a national footprint of nearly 250,000 students and 5,500 chapters, FBLA is the largest organization in the world dedicated to preparing students for the world of business. Iowa FBLA Day American Enterprise Day Future Business Leaders of America sets aside November 15 to celebrate American Enterprise Day. To celebrate American Enterprise Day, Iowa FBLA annually declares the day Iowa FBLA Day to bring awareness to both American Enterprise and Iowa FBLA across the great state of Iowa. Event Objectives Showcase high quality FBLA chapters from across the state with students sharing the benefit of FBLA and American Enterprise Day. Advocate how FBLA prepares students for contributing to society and the economy. Learn professionalism, communication, and leadership skills by being active with elected officials, media outlets, and key stakeholders. Historical Context American Enterprise Day was started by Jimmy Carter, who made a Presidential Proclamation on August 8, 1980. That was over 40 years ago, and to this day we observe American Enterprise Day on November 15. President Carter’s goal was to educate young people about capitalism through the organization of Future Business Leaders of America. Since then, Iowa FBLA brings awareness to both American Enterprise and FBLA through advocacy and promotion. Event Logistics American Enterprise Day is a great way to recognize how free enterprise has positively contributed to the economy. For example, if you work for someone else, you choose the occupation that you want to pursue. The owners of the businesses you work for make it possible for people to purchase the goods and services that they need. Because of free enterprise you can make decisions like that, on your own. There are numerous activities that your chapter can do to celebrate American Enterprise Day. That could mean inviting a local business to come speak to your school, preparing class skits, or even running an essay contest. Whatever project your chapter chooses to undertake is an opportunity to teach someone else about the importance of the free enterprise system. Preparing for the Event Iowa FBLA Day is a day to embrace the wonderful opportunities that our organization has to offer! Chapters are invited to celebrate at the local level. This includes practicing competitive events, serving other members in the community, hosting an FBLA meeting to induct new members or install officers, networking with fellow FBLA chapters in your District, touring local businesses to learn how they operate, and much more.
